Cool Fuel was born not long after our
first child, Hannah. And to be quite honest, the whole thing
started off rather unexpectedly. We were new to the world
of parenting and just finding out that most of the food
choices out there are not only processed and filled with
preservatives but generally unhealthy as well. So we started
making our own fresh food, which turned out not to be very
convenient at all, considering how busy we both were.
And that’s about the time the lights
came on, because if we were finding it difficult providing
a healthy diet for a baby, we could only imagine the challenges
facing parents with school-age children. Plus, as a third-grade
teacher, Georgina saw firsthand the rise in obesity and
lack of classroom attention in those kids who ate junk foods
and drank soda. But my experience as a Subway franchisee
showed me that most of the kids did know better and would
eat healthy if that had a choice.
Everyday I watched kids come in and try
their best to make better decisions on their own. At that
point, Georgina and I decided to create Cool Fuel as a healthy
alternative for parents who care about what their kids eat
but are just too busy and don’t have the time to make
the meals themselves.
In the process of developing Cool
Fuel, we figured we’d need some expert help, so we
assembled an expert team of professionals — a nutritionist,
a cardiologist and a child behavior psychologist —
who all happen to be parents who share similar concerns
about the health of our children and what they eat for lunch.
